All participants start with six lives. Typically the gamers use a die to keep track of their lives, tracking down from 6 to 1 as they lose lives.

1. The 1st player throws the dice and keeps their value hidden from the other people in or under the container. The participant can choose one of three options:

2. Tell the truth and announce what has been rolled.

3. Lie and announce a greater value than that rolled.

4. Lie and announce a lesser value.

5. The hidden dice are then handed to the next gamer in a clockwise direction. The receiving participant now has two options:

6. Trust the passer, roll the dice and pass it on, saying a higher value—with or without looking at them. (For a weak liar it may be hard to not look at the dice.)

7. Call the previous player a liar and look at the dice. If the dice display a smaller value than that declared, the passer loses a life and the receiving player starts a new round.

8. However, if the dice show a higher or equal value, the current player loses a life and the next player starts a new round.

9. Some participants play with a third alternative: Pass the dice to the next gamer without rolling or looking at them, saying the same or a higher value. This eliminates the original passer of all responsibility.

10. This option sets on the predictions that the previous player told a lesser value than they rolled, which may be a effective choice if they want to get at a player further down the line.

11. Remeber that each participant must constantly mention a value higher than the prior value announced, unless she or he is passed a Mia in which case the round ends.

12. If Mia is declared, the next player has two options:

13. They may give up without looking at the dice and lose one life.

14. They may look at the dice. If it was a Mia, they lose two lives. If it wasn't, the previous player loses one life as usual.

1. The first player to lose all of their lives loses the game.

2. Last remaining player is winner
